Gerald (Jerry) E. Peters

Gerald "Jerry" E. Peters age 73 of Chandler, MN died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, 3/29/2011 at the Edgerton 1st Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 PM Monday, 3/28/2011 and 9-9:30 AM Tuesday at Chandler Funeral Chapel. Interment at the Chandler Memorial Cemetery at 9:45 AM Tuesday. The Chandler Funeral Association is handling the arrangements. Gerald “Jerry” Edward Peters was born July 1, 1937 to George and Belle (VanderMeulen) Peters on the family farm in Fenton Township, Murray County, MN. He attended schools in Chandler, MN. After his formal education, Jerry began farming with his parents on different farms. In 1962 he moved to a farm south of Chandler where he farmed until retirement in 2005. On July 26, 1967 Jerry married Janice Hoogeveen in Steen, MN. Jerry was a member of Edgerton First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton, MN. He enjoyed reading, attending music concerts, and traveling, but his primary interest was in farming. As his health began to deteriorate, he entered Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton on June 29, 2010, where he died on March 26, 2011 at the age of 73. Jerry is survived by his wife, Jan of Chandler, MN; brother-in-law, Duane Schmidt and wife, Carol, along with Duane’s children and grandchildren, and friends. His parents and one sister, Lois Schmidt preceded him in death.
