Gladys Viola Kooistra

Gladys Viola (Christians) Kooistra was born on September 12, 1924, in Rock Rapids, IA, to Jake and Tena (Duin) Christians. She grew up and graduated from High School in George, IA. On March 17, 1947, Gladys was united in marriage to Henry Kooistra, while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his honorable discharge, the couple purchased a farm where they raised their family south of Balaton. Gladys enjoyed gardening and yard work, but she was most passionate about her family. She attended the First Baptist Church in Tyler, MN. Gladys died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. Gladys is survived by her children Gloria (and Ron) Hanson of Renner, SD, Henry Kooistra Jr. of Luverne, Robert (and Maria) Kooistra of Lakeville, MN, Ron Kooistra of Plymouth and four grandchildren.
