Glen Allen Welk

Glen A. Welk age 67 of Chandler, MN died Monday, December 22, 2008 at his home in Chandler. Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Chandler Reformed Church. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service on Monday also. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton, MN following a luncheon at the church. Glen Allen Welk was born March 13, 1941 to Edward and Bernice (Evans) Welk in Chandler, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler and attended Chandler Public Schools, graduating in 1959. He also played basketball while in school. In the past Glen had worked as a truck driver for Sanky Trucking and also farmed with his father. He continued to farm over the years on the family farm and enjoyed raising cattle and dairy farming. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing softball, following the MN Twins and Gophers sports, helping his neighbors, and taking leisurely drives around the Chandler area, but he truly did enjoy the simple life of farming. He will always be lovingly remembered by his family for his patience and willingness to share his time with them. On Monday, December 22, 2008 Glen died at his home in Chandler at the age of 67. Glen is survived by his two sisters, Gwen (Bill) Fillis of Blair, NE and Ardys Dirckx of Madison, SD; three nephews, Kevin Welk of Minneapolis, MN, Mike Fillis of Pittsville, MD and Mark Fillis of Pueblo, CO; four nieces, Linda Stevens of St Paul, MN, Leah Lukan of Watertown, SD, Michelle Lindgren of Blair, NE and Kim Dirckx of Madison, SD; cousins and many friends. His parents, two sisters, Velma Stevens and Mary Jane Welk, four brothers, Roy, Elmer, Aldro and Bob, and one brother in law, Ted Dirckx preceded him in death.
