Glenn Loren Jones was born on February 27, 1928, in Arco, to Hubert and Mary (Wittrup) Jones. As a child, he moved with his family to Marshall, where Glenn attended school and graduated from Marshall High School in 1946. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he returned to Marshall. On May 26, 1953, he was united in marriage to Irene Christopherson. The couple made their home in Marshall. Glenn worked for the creamery for a time and the Marshall Hospital for 12 years. He went to work as a maintenance engineer at Southwest Minnesota State University when it opened and retired in 1992. Glenn enjoyed collecting die cast cars and coins. He was President of the Southwest Coin Club. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Glenn was a sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and all-star wrestling.
Glenn died on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. He is survived by children Brian (Susan) Jones of Marshall, Cary (fiancé Carrie Murphy) Jones of Balaton, Brenda (and Robert) Prellwitz of Minneota, grandchildren Laura Jones, Carolyn Jones, Matthew (and Missy) Jones, great grandchildren Zach and Adley, grandson Nate (and Monica) Jones, great grandchildren Anthony, Aiden and Emily, granddaughter Shelbie (fiancé Derek Walters) great-grandchildren Landon and Declan, grandchildren Nicole Prellwitz (and fiancé Jared Longtin) and Brandon Prellwitz and granddaughter Micayla, sister Ethel (and Rich) Forbes of Minnetonka, half siblings Torkel and Daisy from Denmark, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene, sister Hazel Nelson, daughter-in-law Julie Jones and daughter Mary Elizabeth in infancy.
