Bud was born in Canby, MN where he lived his entire childhood until graduating high school. Gustav honorably served his country for eight years in the United States Air Force servicing air planes. While serving in Japan, he was married to June. Following his discharge from the military the couple found themselves in Chicago, where Bud worked with electric maintenance. Gustav would become a life-long avid Cubâs fan. He also loved listening to Jimmy Rodgers and other Country Western music and playing cards. In 1965 Gustav moved to Marshall to enjoy his retirement years back in his hometown area where he would often be found fishing on lakes near Alexandria. On March 23, 2012 Gustav died due to multiple health complications at Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall, MN.
Full military honors will be provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include three children; Karen Breding of CA, Steven Anderson of IL, and Kenneth Anderson of TX; five grandchildren, his sisters Mavis Regnier of Marshall, and Violet (Peter) Karasis of Marshall. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June; mother and father; brothers John and Alfred Anderson, Sister Grace and her husband Dick Abt; and brother-in-law Elroy Regnier.
Interment will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
