Harm Boltjes was born June 9, 1933 to Art and Ikka (Schuur) Boltjes in Iona, MN, Murray County. He was baptized in the Presbyterian faith at the Westbrook Presbyterian Church and attended Country School District #47. As a young boy his family moved to a farm near Currie, MN and Harm attended Tracy Public Schools.
He worked with his family on the farm for several years as a young man, until in July of 1953 he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He served during the Korean War in Germany as a tank driver in the 2nd Armored Division. In June of 1955 Harm received his Honorable Discharge with the rank of Corporal. He then returned to his families home where he farmed with his father and also worked for Swiftâs in Marshall for fifteen years.
Harm enjoyed auction sales, finding old cars and tractors, collecting old car and tractor parts, old horse machinery and he loved stock car racing.
In December of 2007 Harm became a resident of the Golden Living Healthcare Center in Slayton, MN where he died Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the age of 74.
Harm is survived by his special friend, Elaine Crowell of Walnut Grove, MN; one sister, Jeriena Korthouse of Wilder, MN; two nephews, David (Pat) Korthouse of Wilder, MN and Gary (Irma) Korthouse of Windom, MN; two great nephews; and friends.
His parents and one brother, Ralph preceded him in death.
