Harold Jules Buysse was born August 11, 1930 in Minneota to Charles and Mary (Bot) Buysse. Harold grew up and farmed in rural Minneota all of his life. He attended school at St. Eloi in Ghent. Harold bravely served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army as a chef in food service from February 16, 1952 to February 15, 1954. He was united to MaryAnn Laleman on February 16, 1955 and had a blessed 57 years together. In the fall of 1986 they moved into town and enjoyed their retirement years. Harold was very talented in woodworking, creating fret work, picture frames and furniture for his family to enjoy. He spent many hours out in his garden producing produce to share with his neighbors and family. He enjoyed dancing and going out with friends and family bowling and playing rolle bolle. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was a past legion Commander for the Minneota American Legion. Harold died suddenly on August 26, 2012 at Avera Medical center in Marshall. Harold’s greatest joy was his family, whom he would always find time to help. He taught them to always work hard, be honest, and value the time we have with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, MaryAnn; his children, JoAnn (Bruce) Skogrand of Glenwood, Carol (Verle) Myers of Nora Springs, IA, Mark Buysse of Minneota, Mike (Arlene) Buysse of Minneota, Greg Buysse of Maple Grove, Dan (Jill) Buysse of Farmington, Karen (David) Verschelde of North Mankato; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence, Ed, Don; and many other friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard and Emil, and sister, Agnes.
