Mass of Christian Burial for Harold Lanoue, 90, of Marshall, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6 at St. Mary's Chapel, Holy Redeemer School in Marshall. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 2:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 3:00 p.m. at Rehkamp & Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
Harold A. Lanoue, 90, died Wednesday, December 1, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. He was born March 28, 1920, to Elric and Ethel (LaVoy) Lanoue on the family farm in Lucas Township. He worked with the CCC program in the latter years of the Depression. Harold married Genevieve Stassen on February 18, 1941 in Ghent. The couple moved to Marshall in 1975 while continuing to farm near Marshall until 1985. Along with farming in his spare time, he ran a custom corn shelling, bailing, combining, and trucking business. After retiring from farming in 1985, he continued his custom combining and trucking business for several years. He and Gen enjoyed traveling the country with their motor home. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards especially the game Pepper. There was always a lively game of Pepper going on at family gatherings. From 2003 until 2010 he was a resident of Hill Street Place and Boulder Estates, where he played cards every night and he also played in the afternoons at the Marshall Adult Care Center.
He is survived by his daughters: Carol (Lloyd) Welbig of Sioux Falls, SD, Sandra Stonis of Scottsdale, AZ, Pam (Don) Davis of Milton, FL; sons: Tom (Kathleen)Lanoue of Cary, NC, and Randy (Lorene)Lanoue of Marshall. Nine grandchildren: Lisa(John) Griffin, Lynda (Scott) Hoffman all of Sioux Falls, Lori(Rick) Kruthoff of Garretson, SD, Cameron Welbig of St. Louis Park, Sean A. Lanoue of Atlanta, GA, Carrie(Kevin) Liberatore of Centerville, OH, Ryan Lanoue of Cary, NC, Jake and Bryce Lanoue of Marshall. Four great-grandchildren: Matthew and Taylor Griffin of Sioux Falls, Kyle and Emily Liberatore of Centerville, OH. One sister Kate (Jim) LaVoy of Marshall, sister-in-laws Rose Lanoue and Bernadette Stassen both of Marshall, Margaret DeSutter of Haywarden, IA, Bernetta(Bob) Freson of Onalaska, WI, and brother-in-law James (Fannie) Stassen of New Hyde Park, NY. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002, his parents, infant grandson Sean Michael Lanoue, son-in-law Al Stonis, sisters Irene Paradis and Beatrice Lanoue, brothers Edward, Jack and Earl Lanoue. The family requests memorial contributions to Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall or to the charity of your choice.
