Helen Dennin age 87 formerly of Balaton, MN died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel, MN. Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Balaton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will be at the St. Peterâs Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton, with a luncheon to follow at the Balaton Community Center
Helen Dennin was born February 16, 1921 to Harry and Petrea (Larson) Dwire in Balaton, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at St Peterâs Lutheran Church in Balaton and attended Balaton Public Schools, graduating from Balaton High School in 1939. After which she remained at home and continued helping out on the farm.
On November 17, 1946 Helen married Arthur Dennin at the St Peterâs Lutheran Parsonage in Balaton. They made their home on a farm north of Balaton until 1969 when they moved into Balaton. Helen worked for several years at the Tracy Nursing Home in Tracy, MN. In 1973 she began working at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton where she continued for about 22 years. She then worked at the Balaton School cafeteria for three years until her retirement.
Helen was a lifelong member of the St Peterâs Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aide and many other activities over the years. In 1991 Helen moved to the Marshall Square Apartments in Marshall, MN where she joined the Weiner Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and worked at the thrift shop in the hospital. In May of 1999 Helen moved to the Lincoln Apartments in Litchfield, MN and in June of 2008 became a resident of the Lakeside Healthcare Center of Dassel, MN.
Helen died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Lakeside Healthcare Center at the age of 87.
Helen is survived by her one son, Neil (Jackie) Dennin of Litchfield, MN; one daughter, Nona Bollesen of Buffalo, MN; four grandchildren, Loren (Sandy) Dennin, Scott (Deb) Dennin, Russ (Kim) Bollesen and Robin (Jason) Engen; six great grandchildren, Conner and Ava Dennin, Rylee and Camryn Dennin and Maxwell and Keigan Bollesen; one sister, Edna Bollman; nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Arthur, one son in law, Robert Bollesen, one brother in law, Fred Bollman, and three sisters and their husbands, Ethel (Walter) Moat, Millie (Art) Pagel, and Ella (Ike) Baerg preceded her in death.
