Helen Luella (Brandt) Peterson was born on February 28, 1926, in Yellow Medicine County to John and Olava (Ostenson) Brandt. She grew up in the Granite Falls and Wood Lake areas and graduated from Wood Lake High School. Helen attended Nurseâs Training in Tracy, MN. On November 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Willard Peterson at the Rock Valley Lutheran Church in Rural Echo. The couple made their home and raised their family on a farm South of Minneota. Helen worked as a nurse at the Marshall Hospital and Nursing Home. She was a member of the Nordland Neighbor Club and Hope Lutheran Circle. Helenâs friends were very special to her, she considered them to be a blessing in her life. Helen died on Thursday, August 28, 2008, after a couple years of failing health.
She is survived by her children Donald (Penny) Peterson of Bird Island, Keven (Helen) Peterson of Cottonwood, Jody (David) Kessler of St. Cloud, grandchildren Cassie and Andy Peterson and Matthew and Luke Kessler and sister Betty Wolff of Hancock, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Willard, brother John Brandt and sister Bonnie Woodard.
