Helen Leona Vandeputte Vandendriessche was born on April 25, 1925 in Ashton, Iowa to Joseph and Leona Vroman Vandeputte. She attended Marshall School. Helen lived in the Marshall area all her life. On June 4, 1946 she was united in marriage to Leon Vandendriessche at Holy Redeemer Church in Marshall, Minnesota. The couple farmed in Grandview Township until 1986 when they moved to Marshall. Helen volunteered in the Resurrection choir, auxiliary gift shop, hospice and various other organizations in Marshall. Her passion was her family, making a home and dancing. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking and music. Helen died on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at her residence.
She will be sadly missed by her children Jeanette (Everett) Boerboom, Thomas (Janet) Vandendriessche, Donald (Kandice) Vandendriessche, Daniel Vandendriessche all of Marshall, Linda Johnson of Hayfield, MN., Colleen (Warren) Vandendriessche of Boulder, CO., Lauren (Michael) Vandendriessche of Dumont, N.J., nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, siblings, Jane Wegman, Joan (William) Rickman and Donna (Vernon) Brewers, and James (Barbara) Vandeputte and sister-in-law, Joanne Vandeputte. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lester, Donald, Robert, her husband, Leon, son-in-law, Allan Johnson and her grandson, Michael Johnson. Memorials are preferred to the Holy Redeemer School Foundation.
