Helen Margaret (Garrow) VanLerberghe was born on September 24, 1916, in Milroy, to Fred and Clara (Zeiter) Garrow. She grew up in Milroy and Minneota. On April 8, 1940, she was married to Gordon VanLerberghe. The couple made their home in Marshall where Helen worked at Swift Company for more than 40 years. She enjoyed crafts and crochet, fishing, playing bingo and dancing. Helen also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino. She was most fond of spending time with her family.
Helen died on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Sharlene Gagnon of Cerro Gordo, IL, daughter-in-law Carol VanLerberghe of Marshall, grandchildren Lee (and Vicky) Gagnon, Sharilyn (and LeRoy) Goodbear, Monte (and Lisa) Gagnon, Pamela (and Darin) Giles, and Todd VanLerberghe, 10 great-grandchildren, 11 great great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws Gladys Johnson and Marlyss Garrow, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon, son Wayne, son-in-law Francis Gagnon, grandson Lonnie Gagnon, four brothers and four sisters.
