Helen Catherine Vroman was born on February 27, 1938, in Green Valley, to Camiel and Magdeline (Polman) Louwagie. She attended grade school in Green Valley and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Marshall. On July 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Richard Vroman. The couple farmed and raised their family near Milroy. In addition to raising her family, she was a partner in the farm operation. Helen also worked at a variety of jobs including First National Bank, The Schwan Food Company, Lyon Financial, US Bank, and most recently as a greeter for ACMC. Helen enjoyed quilting, gardening and took great pride in her yard. She was comforted and inspired from time spent at the ocean. Helen was most passionate about her grandchildren. âNanaâ had an exceptional relationship with the grandchildren. She loved, cherished and mentored them whenever she could.
Helen died on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the Morningside Heights Transitions unit in Marshall after a short but dignified and grace filled battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband Richard âDickâ of Milroy, children Rhonda (Dave Alexander) of Phoenix, Dean (and Alice) of Milroy, Tom (and Linda Okins) of Milroy, Jill (and Bob Jacobson) of Marshall, grandchildren Daniel and Jordyn, Tony, Jackie, Jen and Andrew, Jared, Adam and Chantal, Charlie and Rylee Helen, great-grandchild Brayden, siblings George (and Cathy), Ern (and Jane), Bernice (and Chuck), Darlene (and Mike), Shirley (and Rick), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
