Helene Mary Moorse was born June 4, 1928, in Grandview Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Julius Peter (J.P.) and Elizabeth (Jennen) Van Overbeke. She graduated from Minneota High School and also attended Business College in Minneapolis. On February 22, 1949, Helene married Bernard Moorse at St. Edward Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and partner in dairy farming with her husband, raised laying hens, broilers and had a very large garden. She served a term as President of Joan of Arc Society and took over cleaning of St. Edward Church from her mother for many years. Helene made the “Best Divinity in the area” and many batches of Belgian Cookies. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her family, kids and grandkids were always very important to her and she was very proud of each one’s accomplishments. Helene always was ready to take care of her grandchildren and especially sharing ice cream with them. Helene died at the Minneota Manor Health Care Center Thursday, October 29, 2009. Helene is survived by her children, Dunstan Robert Moorse O.S.B., of Collegeville, John (Deb) Moorse of Benson, Mary Ann (Curt) Coover of Volga, SD, Bernie Moorse of Minneota, Eddie (Heather) Moorse of Minneota, Patty Moorse of Plymouth, Greg (Becky) Moorse of Minneota; grandchildren, Melanie (Jon Scott) Heaton, Kim (Brian) Button, Ben, Derek, Ryan, Brittany, Grant, Alex, Garrett, Evan, Gared, Kody, Grady, Brooke and McKenna. She is also survived by siblings: Rosemary (Lawrence) Christensen, Michael (Janice) Van Overbeke, Marge Spartz, and Patricia (Vince) Gebes. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard Moorse, Sr. and brother-in-law Edward Spartz.
