Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2011 Chandler Reformed Church Visitation: 5:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2011 Interment: 10:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2011 Chandler Memorial Cemetery Henrietta Ruiter was born October 18, 1917, in rural Chandler, MN to John and Jennie (Vande Voort) Van Lant. She attended country school and later worked for several families doing housework. She made profession of her faith at the Bethel Reformed Church of Leota, MN. On August 23, 194O, she and Dick Ruiter were married at her parents home. They lived in Leota for eight years where they owned and operated a produce business. They then farmed in the Chandler area until 1981, when they retired and moved to Chandler. Dick passed away on November 18, 2004. In January of 2008, she moved to Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. Henrietta was a member of the Chandler Reformed Church and was active in the Reformed Church Women. Her love of the Lord and her faithfulness was a good example to her family. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts for all of her children, grandchildren and great grand children. She loved to share her baked goods with others. On Monday, August 22, 2011, Henrietta passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 93 years. She will be lovingly remember by her eight children, Darrel (Sylvia) Ruiter of Oakdale GA, John (Darlene) Ruiter of Edgedonn MN, Mina Gritters of Bellflower, GA, Les Ruiter of Lake Wilson, MN, Loreen (Les) Sankey of Chandler, MN, Pat Gregory of Sioux Falls, SD, Ruth (Loren) Carlson of Fulda, MN, Dean (Joyce) Ruiter of Gottage Grove MN. They were blessed with 26 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, John Van Lant of Lakewood, GA, Lawrence Van Lant of Port Orchard, WA, Cornie Van Lant of Chandler, MN, and five sisters, Albertha Gilman, Nellie Fransen, Fran Anker, Elsie Ver Hey and Rose Bleyenberg all of Edgerton, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, sons-in-law, Al Gritters and Bob Gregory, daughter-in-law Mary Ruiter, and four sisters, Eva Prins, Lillian Gilman, Edna Van Dyke & Janet Hesse.
