Henrietta Ruth Veld

Henrietta R. Veld age 86 of Chandler, MN died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN. Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Chandler Reformed Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Leota Community Cemetery, after a luncheon served in the church. The Chandler Funeral Association is handling the arrangements. Henrietta Ruth Veld was born April 1, 1923 to Henry and Dena (Hofkamp) Evink in Leota, MN, Nobles County. She was baptized and professed her faith in the Reformed Church and attended country school. In 1941, Henrietta married John Veld of Edgerton, MN and made their home on a farm near Chandler, MN. They retired into Chandler after the tornado, where they spent the rest of their lives together. She was a member of the Chandler Reformed Church and was very active in years past, in the church women’s groups and as a Sunday School Teacher and in Ladies Aid. For many years Henrietta had an upholstery business and many people in and around Chandler had work done for them by her. She enjoyed quilting and playing games with family and friends. Henrietta loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each of her grandchildren have at least one afghan made by her. Her family will always cherish the many loving memories of the time spent together. On January 26, 2005 Henrietta became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, where she died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the age of 86. Henrietta is survived by her three daughters, Marilyn (Steve) Hoffman of Sioux Falls, SD, Karen (Reginald) Cass of Waseca, MN and Barbara Olivier of Hackensack, MN; two sons, Ronald Veld of Hackensack, MN and Arlan (Valerie) Veld of Iona, MN; fifteen grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother, John (Esther) Evink of Leota, MN; one sister, Lydia Pronk of Worthington, MN; one sister-in-law, Geneva Evink of Michigan; nieces, nephews and friends. Her husband, John, daughter, Tilena, her parents, and one brother, Theodore, one brother-in-law, Lester Pronk preceded her in death.
