Henry Teigland

Henry Simon Teigland was born on April 1, 1922, in Nordland Township, to Hans and Marie (Gunderson) Teigland. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Minneota High School. On October 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to Gloria Drengson in Canby. The couple farmed near Minneota. Henry worked for Kerr’s Hatchery from 1957 – 1963 and later for A.O. Smith Harvestore from 1963 – 1985. In January of 1986, Henry and Gloria moved to Clearwater, Florida, where Henry worked as a pre-planning consultant for Serenity Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The couple returned to Minneota in 2001. Henry was devoted to his wife Gloria for 64+ years, and loved both his children and grandchildren unconditionally, always leading by example. Those who knew Henry knew the passion he had for his faith and family, and his attributes of integrity and honesty in all things. He always encouraged and elevated all who crossed his path. He was a charter member of the Bethel Fellowship Church in Minneota. Henry died on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, currently of Marshall, children Jerry (and Dorie) Teigland of Minneota, Shirley Teigland of Minneota, Sue (and John) Schreier of Minneota and Larry (and Pat) Teigland of Minneota, grandchildren Christopher Schreier of Minneota, Sarah (and Dan) Hanson of Fergus Falls, Angela (and Aaron) Greenwald of Durham, NC, Thomas Schreier of Sioux Falls, SD, Nicole (and Derek) Thorson of Roseville, and Terry Schreier of Marshall, great-grandson Titus Thorson, great-granddaughter expected (Hanson) in January, brother Marvin Teigland of St. Cloud, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Alton “Tony” and Harvey.
