Henry Hubert Van Uden was born on November 25, 1939, in Rural Ghent to Hubert and Deborah (Bot) Van Uden. He attended school and graduated from Cottonwood High School. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Southwest Minnesota. He drove truck for a time for Murphy Trucking. The majority of Henryâs career was farming in Lyon and Yellow Medicine Counties with his brothers. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, watching western movies and having coffee with his friends. Henry was considered the âproject managerâ by his family. He was most passionate about farming.
Henry died on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall after a brief bout with cancer. He is survived by his soul mate Jan Baier, and her family, siblings Anthony (and Kathie) Van Uden of Cottonwood, Mary Bump of Marshall, Janet (and Robert) Bossuyt of Cottonwood, Teresa (and David) Schulte of St. Cloud, Geri Van Uden and Glenn Nelson of Minneapolis, Dennis (and Linda) Van Uden of Marshall, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy (4), parents, sister Trudy Pry and brothers-in-law Doug Pry, James Deutz, and Lyle Bump, two nieces and one nephew.
Memorial recipients will include Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall and Cancer Research funds.
