Herman Hector Bottelberghe was born on December 15, 1925, to Hector and Estella (DeCock) Bottelberghe. He grew up on the family farm near Minneota. Herman served in the U.S. Army from 1947 â 1948. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Minneota. On February 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Annie Hammerlinck at St. Edward Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Minneota. In 1974, they moved to town and Herman worked for the fertilizer plant until his retirement. Herman was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church and served as an usher. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing cards and feeding squirrels and birds. He was most passionate about spending time with his family.
Herman died Wednesday, November 13, 2012, at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby, MN. at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annie, of Minneota, daughter-in-law Julie Bottelberghe of Minneota, son Roger (and Charlene) Bottelberghe of Brookings, SD, son Leo (and Deb) Bottelberghe of Minneota, son Michael (and Deb) Bottelberghe of Walnut Grove, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren (one on the way) brother Raymond (and Bertha) Bottelberghe, sister Delores Vlaminck, and sister Beatrice (and John) Vlaminck, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Hector and Stella, son Harold, sister and brotherâin-law Lorraine and Cyriel Vlaminck, brother-in-law Andrew Vlaminck and nephew John Bottelberghe.
