On the day of his death, Hugo was 79 1/2 years of age and had planned to go fishing with Betty, his wife of 60 years.
Fishing, camping, entertaining the grandkids, videography, travel, and tinkering in his garage and barn filled with customized inventions and collections were his passions. He took pleasure in maintaining a âshipshapeâ yard and home. He and Betty hosted 40 memorable annual family reunions at their home. He loved clocks, motorcycles, and farm shows. He and Betty enjoyed road trips throughout 48 states including Alaska.
Hugo was born in Wilmot, Minnesota. He attended Ag School in Morris, MN. He met and married the love of his life, Betty L. Miller, in 1950. They built their first home North of Marshall. Together they raised two daughters, Linda and Mary in the 2nd home they built near Lynd, MN. This remains their home to this day.
Hugo retired from the State Dept. of Transportation in 1993 after 26 years of service and as a foreman of the sign crew. He also drove the big orange MNDot plows in winter. And, for 14 years, he was head of custodian and maintenance services for Central Catholic High School and St. Maryâs Chapel. He held the treasurer position for Lyon County Township for 14 years. The phrase âany job worth doing, is worth doing wellâ was surely coined for him.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Linda Stoddard, granddaughters Brenda Stoddard Martinson (Wade Martinson), and Shari Stoddard Johnson (Todd Johnson), and great-grandchildren Macy Martinson (8), Stella Johnson (5), and Teddy Johnson (3) who called him âGrampsâ and simply adored him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anna and Ferdinand Frahm; Sisters Marge, Freda, and Edna; Brothers George and Melvin; and daughter, Mary Frahm.
