Ida A. Carlson age 102 of Westbrook, MN died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center. Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Our Saviorâs Lutheran Church in Dovray, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Interment will be in the Our Saviorâs Lutheran Cemetery in Dovray, with a luncheon served in the church social hall immediately following the burial. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.
Ida Aldora Carlson was born July 10, 1910 to Ole and Mary (Johnson) Norstegard on a farm in Dovray Township, Murray County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Our Saviorâs Lutheran Church in Dovray, MN, where she has been a member her whole life and she attended country school.
On December 8, 1927 Ida married Earl Carlson and they made their home on a farm near Dovray. Together they owned and operated the Dovray Creamery for many years. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling, and wintering in Arizona and Texas. In 1991 they moved into the Westbrook Apartments in Westbrook, MN. After her husbandâs death that same year, Ida remained in the apartment until 2006, when she moved into the Country View Estates in Walnut Grove, MN.
Besides being a life-long member of Our Saviorâs Lutheran Church, she was active in WELCA, Martha Bible Study and enjoyed quilting, both with the church women and for her family, for many years. She was a woman of strong faith and continued her daily devotionals throughout her life.
In October of 2011 Ida became a resident of the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center, where she died, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the age of 102.
Idaâs family was very special to her and she is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Phyllis Vosberg of Tracy, MN; son, Orville âBudâ (Londa) Carlson of Redwood Falls, MN; eight grandchildren, Connie (Terry) Post, Tom (Maru) Vosberg, Nancy (Gary) Revier, Carma (Bob) Ochu, Terri Carlson, Wendy Scott Dieter, Jill (Ben) Muzechenko, and Erik (Jill) Johnson; fourteen great grandchildren, Aileenn (Mike) DaLTON, Frank (Reyanna) Vosberg, Erik and Brian Post, Jeremiah Dagel, Jodi (Dan) Blackburn, Abby (Eric) Sahnow, Sarah (Matt) Haggerty, Emily (Alex) Baxley, Matthew (Shelly) Muzechenko, Jordan Muzechenko, Hattie, Hadyn, and Leif Johnson; eight great-great grandchildren, Alexa, Mikala, and Selena Dalton, Madison, Thorton, Lily, and Ruby Muzechenko, and Jaycob Vosberg; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Earl, her parents, daughter, Mary Jane Johnson, son-in-law, Jay Vosberg, great grandson, Marshall Muzechenko, one sister, Ruth Cohrs, two brothers, Julius and Oscar, and several nieces and nephews preceded her in death.
