Irene was born March 26, 1927 to Theophil and Elizabeth Mary (DeBussher) Van De Veire in rural Lyon County. She was baptized at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and received First Communion and Confirmation from St. Peter Catholic Church in Canby. Irene attended country school district #32 from grades 1 â 8. She earned her GED later in Marshall. She also attended some classes at Southwest Minnesota State University. Irene worked at Swift for 29 years and at Schwanâs in taste testing for 9 years. She also did housekeeping and babysitting part time.
She enjoyed many hobbies, which included: gardening, growing roses, collecting rocks, antiques, stamps and coins. She belonged to the Iris Club of Minneota. Irene loved to travel. Some of her favorite places were Idaho, California and Arizona. She enjoyed baking; especially for her family and the farm threshers during late summer. Listening to country western music, dancing and bird watching always kept Irene young at heart. She loved to fish. Her best catch was a large one on the Mississippi River. Irene was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she babysat when young and now enjoyed visiting with them as adults. Many joined her for her 86th birthday.
Irene passed away on August 22, 2013 at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Van De Veire of Marshall; brother, Maurice Van De Veire of Minnetonka; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and seven sisters. Blessed be the memory of Irene Van De Veire.
