Jack Dwayne Parker was born on April 22, 1941, in Worthington, MN, to Daryl and Ilene (Rogers) Parker. He grew up in Worthington and Balaton. At age 17, Jack enlisted and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. While stationed in California, Jack was united in marriage to Ruth Eastman. After his discharge, he worked at various jobs in California, including many years as a purchaser for the Fresno Unified School District. After his retirement, he moved to Walnut Grove where he drove school bus for several years. He enjoyed singing and participated in many ensembles including the Golden Note Chorus in California and the Menâs Chorus in Minnesota. Many local children will remember Jack as Santa Claus, as he appeared in Walnut Grove and Tracy for many years.
Jack died on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at his residence in Walnut Grove. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Walnut Grove, daughter Tamera (and Boo) McFarlin of Coalinga, CA, grandchildren Troy and McKenna McFarlin, and daughter Pamela (and Kimberly) Parker of Copperas Cove, TX, grandson Stephen, brothers Butch, Larry, Phillip and Tom, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Merv.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Judeâs Hospital.
