Mass of Christian Burial for James “Jim” Clark, 88, of Marshall, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011, at St. Mary’s Chapel, Holy Redeemer School, in Marshall. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Rehkamp – Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. James Richard Clark was born on December 8, 1922, in Marshall. Jim was the oldest son of John and Anna (Elbers) Clark. He attended school at Lynd District #17. Jim was engaged in farming with his father before he joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was deployed to the Pacific Theater during World War II. Jim and Helen Stassen were united in marriage on November 18, 1947, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. They farmed outside of Marshall for 40 years, then retired and moved into Marshall in 1980. In his early years, Jim enjoyed roller skating. He later enjoyed ten-pin bowling, rolle bolle, golfing and there was always a bit of Irish luck sprinkled upon his cards. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Marshall Area Adult Community Center. Jim died on Wednesday, March 11, 2011, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Marshall, daughter Patricia Pardell of Marshall and friend Barry Martin; her son Jason (and Mary Ellen) Pardell of Minneapolis, son Ken (and Carol) Clark and their children Melanie (and fiancé Chris Dockter) of Fargo, Todd and Corey of Marshall, siblings John Clark of Marshall, Joseph (and Jean) Clark of Marshall, Anna Marie Kelly of Hastings, sister-in-law Genevieve “Jenny” Clark of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rose Ellen Clark and Elizabeth “Babe” McLaughlin, brother Patrick “Pat” Clark, sister-in-law Lenice Clark, brothers-in-law Hubert Boerboom, Everett McLaughlin and Tom Kelly.
