James (Jimmy) Davis

d. May 1, 2013

James George Davis was born on August 10, 1959, in Marshall, to George and Shirley (McChesney) Davis. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1977. Jimmy worked in the construction/carpentry business for a variety of local contractors for a few years. He lived in Colorado and Texas for a while before returning to Marshall in the mid-1990s when he began “Davis Tile.” Jimmy enjoyed fishing and watching hockey and football. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Wooden Nickel. He was an avid reader and was especially fond of his cats, Princess and Punky. Jimmy was a lifelong, suffering Vikings fan, Nascar enthusiast, enjoyed cooking-indoors and out, doing yard work and gardening, liked playing pool (once you got him talked into it!). He loved spending time with good friends. Jimmy took pride in his work!! Jimmy had: a quick wit, an infectious laugh, generous nature and humble humor - had a smile and a comment for everyone he saw... Jimmy died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. He is survived by his brother Gary Davis of Marshall, sister Pam (and Jim) Bartlett of Marshall, brother Bob Davis of Blaine, sister Joanne (and Russ) Oglesby of Marshall, sister Gail Bethune of Luverne, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives, friends, and his cats Princess and Punky. He was preceded in death by parents, George and Shirley, his sister-in-law Marlene Davis and brother-in-law Edward Bethune.
