James âJimboâ Dean Meiners was born on December 25, 1964, in Marshall to David and Carolyn (Pechan) Meiners. He attended school in Marshall until 1976, when he and his family moved to Minneota. He was confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, and graduated from Minneota High School in 1984. Most recently, Jim lived in Lynd with his significant other, Charity Dethmers, and daughter, Adaya. Jim worked at Schwans, McDonalds, and most recently, D & G Excavating. Jim enjoyed fishing and working on machinery with his hands. Jim was very enthusiastic about demolition derbies. He shared his passion for the sport first with his grandfather, and later with his son, Kelby. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Jim died on Monday, May 26, 2008, in rural Lynd, as the result of an automobile accident. He is survived by his parents, Carolyn Meiners of Minneota, David (Becky) Meiners of Edgerton, children Ketrah Meiners of Granite Falls, Kelby Meiners of Marshall, Kenzie Meiners of Minneota, Caitlin Maranell of Marshall, Derrick Van Overbeke of Marshall and Adaya Meiners of Lynd, granddaughter Kylie Kerkaert of Tyler, sisters Shandra (Louis) Dahlen of Marshall, Lacie (Mike) Truwe of Amiret, nieces and nephews Garrett, Joseph, Julia and Grayling Dahlen of Milroy and Taryn and Talyn Truwe of Amiret, signifant other, Charity Dethmers of Lynd, many Aunts, UncleS and Cousins, Jim and JoAnn Thompson, friends and his derby family.
