Jane Ellen (Dew) Kost was born May 8, 1929 at home in Bryant Township South Dakota to Robert Carl Dew and Louise (Classen) Dew. The youngest of nine children, she grew up and attended school in Browns Valley, MN. After graduating from high school in 1947, Jane attended Abbott Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis and graduated with her RN degree in 1950. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Larry Kost on June 3, 1952. The couple made their home in Glenwood, MN where they raised three sons, Michael, Charles, and James. Jane served the Glenwood community as a nurse for Dr. Lee at the clinic until she retired.
Jane will be remembered as a kind and generous person. In retirement she was an avid reader, loved to play cards, and spent many hours with crocheting, needlepoint, and similar crafts. She found time to volunteer at the retirement home, participate in the council on aging, and work at the food shelf along with other volunteer work in Glenwood. Jane was a faithful follower of the Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves.
Jane is survived by her sons, Mike (and Cathy) of LaCrescent, MN , Charlie (and Betsy) of Lynd, MN, daughter-in-law, Cindy of Moorhead, MN, grandchildren Thomas, Samantha, and Stephanie, brother-in-law John (and Lois) Kost of Myrtle Beach, SC, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, son James, siblings Lena, Bessie, Jennie, Nellie, Irene, Bertha, Edna, and Bill.
