Jay was born September 22, 1957 to Kenneth and Marjorie (Lund) in Marshall. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Marshall and enjoyed many friendships there. Jay was an avid sports fan and was active in Marshall High School as manager of the baseball and football teams. He attended SMSU in Marshall graduating in 1979. He left Marshall for his first position as manager of a motel in Bismarck, ND and later at Williston, ND. After successfully passing a civil service test, he was offered a position at the Sioux Falls Post Office which he accepted. He began working there in 1984 and was there until the time of his death. Jay was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Jay died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Marjorie, brother Scott (and Colleen) of Arden Hills and his stepfather Warren Saetre as well as numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth.
