Jean was born on November 29, 1927, in Walnut Grove, MN, to Henry and Jessie (Harbo) Buysse. She died on Sunday, April 07, 2013, at the Avera Morningside Heights Memory Care Unit in Marshall after a ten year battle with Alzheimerâs disease.
Jean graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1945. She married John Chandler on April 30, 1949, in Green Valley, MN. They had four children. Jean started working outside of the home after the last of her four children were in school. She started at Southwest Minnesota State College when it opened and worked until her retirement in 1990. During her life, she had been active in the Holy Redeemer Church guild and sang in the choir. She enjoyed walking, aerobics, crocheting afghans and cross stitch needlework.
Survivors include her husband, John, children Charles (and Linda) of Hager City, WI, Bruce of Stockholm, WI, Jeanine Schweer of Marshall, and Jamie (Rick) Kiefer of Zumbrota, MN, sisters Janet Lindsey of Marshall, Ruth Mae Post of Cottonwood, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Jessie Buysse, brother Marvin, infant brother Bruce, and one grandchild.
Memorials will be donated to Alzheimerâs research.
