Jeanette Arlene Johnson

Jeanette A. Johnson age 89 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at her home in Tracy. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Tracy. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery, rural Garvin, MN, with a luncheon served immediately after the burial in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Jeanette Arlene Johnson was born August 5, 1924 to Ray and Bernice (Davis) Evans on a farm near Garvin, MN, Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Attended Country School District #72 and then later Tracy Public Schools, graduating from Tracy High School 1942. On February 10, 1943 Jeanette married Darold Johnson in Tracy, MN. They made their home in California for a short time and then Jeanette moved back to Lamberton, MN, then Garvin and then into Tracy, MN, where she has lived ever since. Over the years Jeanette worked as a waitress in many of the cafés in town, she also worked at the Tracy Motel, the Tracy Laundermat, Tracy Senior Citizen Center, the Tracy Public Schools, as a janitor, and for many years she worked as a nurses aid at the Tracy Municipal Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Tracy and active in the church women’s groups. She was also a member of the Tracy American Legion and Tracy VFW Auxiliaries and served as Chaplain for the VFW for many years. Jeanette enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, and wildlife, birds, especially Hummingbirds. She also enjoyed Minnesota Timberwolves and Twins Baseball, but her greatest love was spending time with her children and their families. On Thursday, October 17, 2013, after a long battle with cancer, Jeanette, with her loving daughter by her side, died at her home at the age of 89. Jeanette is survived by her three sons, Darold (Teri) Johnson of Balaton, MN, David (Deb) Johnson and John (Robyn) Johnson, both of Tracy, MN; one daughter, Barb Johnson of Tracy, MN; twelve grandchildren, Alex, Missy, Pam, Jenny, James, Sarah, Kim, Jody, Jeremy, Jessica, Jill and Stacie; twenty great grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Blake of Marshall, MN; nieces, nephews and friends. Her son, James, her parents, Ray and Bernice Evans, three grandchildren, Terry and David Johnson Jr. and Darold Fastenau, one brother, Leo Evans, and one sister, Letha Lanoue preceded her in death.
