Jeffrey S. Langswierdt age 44 of Ruthton, MN died Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Hospice House in Marshall, MN. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 8, 2015 at the Alliance Church in Tyler, MN. Visitation will be from noon until time of service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at a later date. Affordable Cremations of Southwest Minnesota is handling the arrangements.
Jeffrey Scott Langswierdt was born September 18, 1970 to Raymond and Dona (Barron) Langswierdt in Fridley, MN. When he was eight years old his family moved to California and he attended Santo Rosa Public Schools, graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1988.
He worked various jobs after graduating and in 1994 he moved with his mother back to Minnesota, where they made their home in Ruthton. In 1995 he started working for Wal-Mart as the new store opened in Marshall, MN and he moved into an apartment in Marshall shortly thereafter. He was with Wal-Mart for thirteen years, many of those years as the Department Manager of Electronics. In 2008 he went to work at the Pipestone County Medical Center in admissions and received both the February Employee of the Month in 2011, and also Employee of the Year for 2011. Jeff bought a house in Ruthton in 2004 and remained living there until the present. He was married to Tara Olson of Hanley Falls, MN from 2006 until 2010.
Jeff will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, and cousin to his family; and as a true and wonderful friend to all that knew and met him. He enjoyed the ocean, movies, collecting both comic books and toys, specifically action figures, many trips to the Renaissance Festival and gaming. His passion was for anything Superman related and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Jam Factor Gaming Alliance and had served as president in the past.
Jeff battled Diabetes most of his life and six months ago underwent organ transplant surgery, which was successful, but further complications led to his death on Wednesday, February 3, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at the Hospice House in Marshall, MN.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Dona Langswierdt of Ruthton, MN; brother, Todd (Glynis) Langswierdt of El Paso, TX; two nieces, Hope and Haley Langswierdt of El Paso, TX; two aunts, Susan Johnson and Bonnie (Doug) Peterson, both of Florence, MN; four uncles, James (Karolyn) Barron of Russell, MN, Michael (Debra) Barron and Thomas (Linda) Barron, both of Ruthton, MN and Dennis (Kayla) Barron of Springfield, MN; many cousins, and a host of friends.
His Grandparents, his father, one aunt, Julie Barron and one uncle, Bruce Johnson preceded him in death.
