Jill Marie (Driessen) Houseman was born on February 17, 1966, in Marshall to Ron and Pat (Johnson) Driessen. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1984. Jill then attended school in Brookings, SD, before moving to Minneapolis where she worked at a variety of jobs including as a caregiver and later as the manager of Spankyâs Bar in West St. Paul. Jill returned to Marshall in 1997 when her daughter Alyssa was born. Her second daughter, Savannah, was born in 1998. Jill was a devoted mother. Her daughters and her work were her priorities. Jill worked as the community development director for Western Community Action. She was very focused on helping those in need and her efforts were recently recognized at Western Community Action as the first recipient and namesake of the Jill Houseman Award. Jill has battled cancer for the previous six years with incredible courage and a very positive attitude which was an inspiration to all who knew her. She died on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
Jill is survived by her daughters Alyssa and Savannah, parents Ron and Pat Driessen of Marshall, brother Mark and his wife Lisa, their children Nathan, Chris, Tiffany and Kayla, all of Marshall, numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and loved ones who touched her life, and her fiancé Todd Anderson and daughters Danielle and Jessica. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Ted and Julia Driessen, Grandmother Gladys Grogan, Uncles Lawrence and Kenny Driessen and Larry Grogan and Aunt Sharon Regnier.
