Jorey Benjamin Ellefsen was born April 15, 2000 in Marshall, Minnesota to Lisa Moon and Benjamin Ellefsen. He was baptized in the Christian faith on August 20, 2000. He resided in Marshall until moving to Portland, Oregon in August 2007; he attended Llewelyn Elementary School in Portland as a 2nd grader. Jorey died tragically as a result of a motorized biking accident that occurred in rural Lake Benton, Minnesota.
Throughout his life Jorey participated in many sports including baseball, basketball, racquetball, soccer, swimming, hiking, rock & tree climbing and and especially bike riding. He was an active and adventurous child who loved spending time outside just being a boy.
His favorite sport was baseball but he also enjoyed playing board games and yard games. His most favorite past time was fishing and hunting with his dad.
Jorey found enjoyment in simple activities and loved to collect rocks, sticks and just about anything. He would often go on walks or bike rides with his family and picked flowers to share with others. He had the pleasure of hiking along Mt. Hood, the Colombia River Gorge, and walking along the Pacific Ocean. Jorey was privileged to tour the USS Abraham Lincoln with his Uncle Bryan and other family members this past December. Jorey had a love for animals and was very close to his families pets, especially Bubba, Rigby, Sheba and Zen.
Jorey had a contagious smile that touched everyone who knew him and made friends very easily. He was a very loving and caring child with a heart of gold. Jorey often made special requests for âgroup hugsâ. It was common for him to unexpectedly say, âMom! Guess what? I love you.â
He had exceptional navigational skills and would often redirect his grandma and aunt when they would get lost in traffic!
Jorey will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in all who knew him. Jorey is our hero because he was an organ donor. He will be remembered for his loving spirit and insatiable smile. He is looking upon us all from Heaven and his spirit will continue to guide us in our lives. We will miss him dearly.
