Funeral Service for JOYce Adams, 48, of Marshall, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Grace Life Church of Marshall. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Rehkamp – Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.Thursday at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Marshall Cemetery. Joyce Ilene (Dougherty) Adams was born on December 15, 1962, in Pawnee City, NE, to Harold and Jean (Korber) Dougherty. She grew up in Burchard, NE, and graduated from Lewiston Consolidated High School. After graduation, Joyce moved to Marshall where she worked for the Private Industry Council, her husband’s painting and drywall business, and for the last 10 years, she was the office manager at Grace Life Church and Overseer of the Most Excellent Wayprogram. Joyce was very passionate about her faith and her family. She was a caregiver and was very concerned about other people’s needs. She was known as the “Joyce Meyer of Marshall” and was very gifted at sharing the word of God. She had a creative eye for painting and decorating. Joyce was also a member of the Lyon County Alliance Commission and was involved in planning the annual Red Ribbon Week. Joyce died on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at her residence in Marshall, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rick, of Marshall, children Christopher, Kyle and Carly of Marshall, her mother Jean Dougherty of Lincoln, NE, siblings Mary (and Dave) Michel of Lincoln, NE, David (and Marlyn) Dougherty of the Philippines, Anne Gardner of Sequin, TX, Elaine Dockweiler of North Bend, NE, Jerry (and Annie) Dougherty of Omaha, AR, Mark Dougherty of Sequin, TX Lorie (and Curt) Beeson of Omaha, NE, Julie (and Tom) O’Brien of San Antonio, TX, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and infant brothers James and Michael.
