Weather Related Change to Services
Judith I. Stelter age 68 of Garvin, MN died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Hospice House of Marshall. Services will be 1:30 PM Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, MN, and continue at the church on Sunday from 11:30 AM until time of service. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery, near Lake Shetek, following a luncheon to be served at the church. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Judith Ione Stelter was born June 20, 1942 to Willard and Ruby (Mealman) Wirtjes in Pine River, MN, Cass County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Russell Public Schools, graduating from Russell High School in 1960.
On December 17, 1960 Judy married Francis Stelter at the Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin, MN and they made their home in Garvin. They then moved to Killeen, TX, before returning to Minnesota. After living in central Minnesota they returned to Garvin in 1976. Judy worked as a home health care nurse for Lyon County and then as a bookkeeper for Tri-State Petroleum in Marshall.
She was a member of the Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin and in the past had taught Sunday school. Judy enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
In October of 2010 she entered the Hospice House of Marshall, MN where she died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 68.
Judy is survived by her husband, Francis Stelter of Garvin, MN; three sons, Mark (Susan) Stelter of Rapid City, SD, Eric (Carissa) Stelter of Watertown, SD and Jason (Liz) Stelter of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Zachary, Lexi, Cole, Jack, and Sam Stelter; one sister, Sharon (Ted) Haugen of Currie, MN; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Her parents, one sister, Donna Drown and one brother, Roger Wirtjes preceded her in death.
