Julaine Stienessen was born February 7, 1953 in Marshall, MN to Elmo and Emily (Verschelde) Richards. She attended grade school in Minneota and graduated high school from Minneota High School. Shortly after high school, on April 28, 1973 she married her true companion, Leonard Stienessen at St. Edwardâs Catholic Church in Minneota, MN and together they raised their son, David.
As long time Payroll Specialist of Schwanâs Foods in Marshall, Julaine was awarded many service recognition paintings and plaques for her 30 plus years of dedication and hard work. While, her job was important to her, her role as mother, wife and grandmother held the highest honors. Julaine retired from Schwanâsâ in 2006 due to illness, but most say it was to spend more time with her grandchildren up at Lake Ida.
Julaine enjoyed fishing with Leonard up at their place on Lake Ida. Here at her home away from home she developed everlasting friendships with her âlake family friendsâ. When Julaine wasnât visiting with friends or showing pictures of her grandkids around, she could be found doing a crossword puzzle, playing cards, or just enjoying the day.
Julaine was a devoted, fun loving and caring wife of 33 years to Leonard and a mother whose inner strength carried David through the good times and the tough. But Julaine found her true calling as a grandmother. Her patience and gentleness with children was admired and respected. She loved to hear the new adventures of John as he experienced new things in his life.
With a constant smile on her face, Julaine faced each new challenge in her life. Her determination and positive attitude kept not only her own spirits, but also those around her, uplifted and encouraged.
Julaine lost her fight with many illnesses on April 14, 2007 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Julaine is preceded in death by her father, mother, stepmother Armilda (Mickey), brother Harvey infant sister and nephew, Blake. She is survived by her husband, Leonard; son David (Amy) Stienessen and grandchildren, John Christian and Norah Mary. She will also be deeply missed by her sister Fran (Harold) Stienessen and Dick (Deloris) Richards; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
