Julia Ann Serreyn was born on March 7, 1932, in Tracy, to Julius and Veronica (Logue) Walters. She grew up on a family farm near Lynd and graduated from Lynd High School. On November 29, 1952, she was united in marriage to Stanley Serreyn at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The couple farmed near Arco, later near Tyler, before moving to Marshall in 1969. Julia worked side by side with Stanley in the farm operations and then always provided a very pleasant and loving home for her family. After moving to Marshall, Julia worked for Western State Bank (currently Bremer), the Marshall School System, and then the Lyon County Court House. She was talented at many hobbies including ceramics, knitting, crocheting. She and Stanley enjoyed dancing, camping, and traveling. They wintered in a few different locations including Florida, Arizona and Texas. Julia was very passionate about her family and friends. She was known for her hospitality and often hosted large family gatherings.
Julia died on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall, on their 64th Wedding Anniversary. She is survived by her devoted husband, Stanley Serreyn of Marshall, loving sons Steve Serreyn of Wichita, KS, and Randy (and Roxie) Serreyn of Marshall, grandchildren Jordan (and Jennifer) Serreyn of Wichita, KS, Danielle (and Ben) Wheeler of Wamego, KS, Melissa (and Paul) Younger of Gillette, WY, Ryan (and Angela) Serreyn of Marshall, Rachel (and Joe) Krall of Marshall, great-grandchildren Alexis Younger, Harper Wheeler and Kollyn Wheeler, siblings Margaret Schwerr, Veronica (and Doyle) Larkin, Julius (and Diane) Walters, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Diane, and brothers John and Andrew Walters, brother-in-law Dean Schwerr, and sister-in-law Jeanette Walters.
