MARSHALL – June Marie (Lanoue) Sovell, 92, died peacefully at the home of her son in Stillwater on Thursday. She calmly passed surrounded by all of her children. June had suffered a stroke the previous Saturday. Services for June will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:30 p.m. Sunday with a 4:00 p.m. CCW Rosary and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue Monday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. June was born to Harvey and Hattie (LeBeau) Lanoue on June 1, 1917 in Marshall, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. On November 15, 1937, June was united in marriage to Maximilian Sovell in Marshall, Minnesota. They made their home in Marshall where they raised their nine children. June is survived by eight of her children, Myron Max (Karen) Sovell of Westerville, Ohio, Gerald (Kathleen) Sovell of Minneapolis, Judy (James) McArdell of Sauk Centre, Ron “Nick” (Ann) Sovell of Elko, Susan Allanson of Phoenix, Arizona, Randall (Ruth) Sovell of Shakopee, Roxy (Kenny) Moon of Marshall, and Paul (Kim) Sovell of Stillwater. She is also survived by her 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, her brother, Donald “Son” Lanoue of Phoenix, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maximilian, her youngest son Timothy, one brother, Irvin “Buck” and six sisters, Pearl, Lola, Darlene, Doris, Ruth and Arloween. In life, June enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and caring for her family. Later on, she was an avid Twins fan who also found great enjoyment reading, playing cards, and taking daily walks. She loved traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. June was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Church. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Holy Redeemer School, San Lucas Toliman Mission, or Prairie Home Hospice. Blessed be the memory of June Sovell who will be missed by many.
