Keith C. Anderson age 82 of Balaton, MN died Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton. Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Balaton and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton. The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton is handling the arrangements.
Keith Carl Anderson was born April 23, 1928 to Carl and Ruth (Hillquist) Anderson in Tyler, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Balaton Methodist Church and attended Balaton Public School, graduating from Balaton High School in 1946. Keith worked on the family farm for several years before entering the U.S. Army in 1953. He was stationed in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1955, when he returned to the Balaton area.
On October 11, 1956, Keith married Arlene Sigurdson at St. Peterâs Lutheran Church in Balaton. They made their home on a farm near Balaton until Keith quit farming in 1972 and they moved into Balaton. He then worked for Wendland Bridge Construction and also hauled loads for Stewartâs Concrete.
Keith enjoyed wood working, reading, deer hunting and tinkering with small engines. He was a member of the Balaton Sportsmenâs Club and the Balaton American Legion.
In October of 2009, Keith became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, where he died Friday, May 7, 2010 at the age of 82.
Keith is survived by his one son, Rick (Marla) Anderson of Balaton, MN; three daughters, Becky (Greg) Germscheid of Dassel, MN, Jill (Bob) Gilman of New Prague, MN and Jan Anderson of Hopkins, MN; six grandchildren, Kristina (Greg) Carlson, Megan (Mike) Boerboom, Emmy and Ethan Germscheid, Zachary and Ashlyn Gilman; one sister, Jeanette Herring of Dewey, AZ; nieces, nephews and friends.
His wife, Arlene, parents and one sister, Doreen (Fred) Nielson and one brother-in-law, Roy Herring preceded him in death.
