Kenneth Gene Hanson was born on July 22, 1934, in rural Humboldt, IA, to Amos and Alice (Soppeland) Hanson. He grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School. On January 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Landolt at St. Johnâs Catholic Church in Gilmore City, IA. Ken spent his career working in the grocery industry. The family lived in Clarion, IA, Dakota City, IA, and Fairmont, MN, for ten years before moving to Marshall in 1972. Here, Ken worked for Almichâs Super Value, later County Market and County Fair. Ken enjoyed the outdoors including camping, boating, trap shooting, fishing and especially trapping. He was a member of the Minnesota Trappers Association. He also enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn. He was most passionate about his family.
Ken died on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Marshall, children Steve (and Lori) Hanson of Spring Green, WI, Mike (and Jill) Hanson of St. Peter, MN, Kevin (and Linda) Hanson of Madison, WI, Kim (and Brent) Fenske of Kasson, MN, Joan (and Duane) Lage of West Fargo, ND, Jim (and Debbie) Hanson of Richland, WA, Larry (and Sandy) Hanson of Marshall, 26 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Muriel Strieter of Walnut Creek, CA, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert, Philip, Edgar and Roger.
