Kevin Gregoire was born on May 14, 1950, in Marshall to Virgil and Mary (Qunell) Gregoire. He grew up on a farm outside of Marshall, attended Central Catholic High School, and graduated from Marshall High School in 1968. Kevin was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1972, during which time he served in the Vietnam War on the USS Midway. His service to his country and community continued throughout his life with countless hours serving on the Lyon County Soil and Water Board, farm crisis mediation, and Holy Redeemer’s Parish Council. On May 24, 1975, he was united in marriage to Mary Breczinski in Marshall, where the couple lived, farmed, and raised their family on Kevin’s family farm. Although Kevin greatly enjoyed the challenge of raising hogs, woodworking, winemaking, and traveling the world, he was never more content than when he was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Kevin was thoughtful, deliberate, and extremely analytical; traits that he applied daily to his farming business and raising his family. He was a trusted advisor and friend to many. He will forever be remembered as a loving, kind husband, father, and grandfather with a compassionate, gentle, and joyful soul.
Kevin died on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall after a 16-month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Marshall; son Ryan Gregoire of Marshall, son Luke (and Jennifer) Gregoire of Cottonwood, daughter Monique Gregoire (and Jim Kuhn) of Alexandria, daughter Natalie (and Kurt) Fiedler of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren Jared, Gavin, and Connor Gregoire, Lewis and Calla Kuhn, and Sylvia Fiedler; siblings Dan (and Marilyn) Gregoire of Marshall, Barb (and Rod) Sundheim of Hastings, Karyl Caverly of Rosemount, Al (and Maggie) Gregoire of San Antonio, TX, Peggy (and Tom) Connell of Hastings, Terry (and Faye) Gregoire of Dallas, NC, Renee Wiest of Chesterfield, VA, and Mari-Kae (and Marti) Schouweiler of Rosemount; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
