Laurence Joseph Rogge was born on September 30, 1929, in Milwaukee, WI, to Herman and Irma (DeCock) Rogge. At an early age, he moved with his family to a farm near Ghent. On June 14, 1960, he was united in marriage to Helen Schmidt. The couple farmed and raised their family near Ghent. Laurence also worked as a custodian at Southwest State University in Marshall. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, playing baseball and was an avid Twins and Viking fan. Laurence loved country music and in his younger years he enjoyed playing the electric guitar. Laurence died on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Morningside Heights Nursing Home in Marshall. He is survived by his children Bennett Rogge of Oskaloosa, IA, Linda (and Brian) Sampson of Waterloo, IA, Edward Rogge of Ghent, Lawrence (and Coleen Pedersen) Rogge of Ghent, Joyce Samples of Granite Falls, Karen Rogge of Minneota, Brian Rogge of Ghent, Adrian Rogge of Ghent and Susan (and Alonso) Ramirez of Marshall, 12 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, daughter Janet, brothers Ferdnand, Roger, Ray and Bob. Laurence will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory.
