The funeral service for Lauretta “Gretch” Danielson, 75, of Tracy, will be Friday, September 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Tracy City Cemetery. In honor of Gretch's favorite color the attendees are invite to wear pink or blue for the funeral service.
Lauretta Grace “Gretch” (Johnson) Danielson was born on January 7, 1948, in Tracy, to Morris and Frances (Visker) Johnson. She was baptized at Tracy Lutheran Church and grew up in the surrounding areas of Tracy. She was confirmed at Sillerud Lutheran Church in Balaton. Gretch attended school in Slayton and Balaton. On January 7, 1967, she was united in marriage to Kenneth “Flash” Pedersen in Milwaukee, WI. To this union three children were born: Kimberly, Melissa, and David. On December 4, 1973, Gretch was united in marriage to Dale Danielson in Tracy. To this union, four children were born: April, Sara, Dale Jr., and Daren. Family was most important to Gretch, and she and Dale made their home in Tracy. After raising her children, Gretch worked at the Tracy Nursing Home in housekeeping and laundry, at the Tracy Hospital in the kitchen, and finished her career at Second Wind CPAP in Tracy. In her free time, Gretch enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved being outdoors, especially in the summertime. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed gardening. On August 28, 2023, Gretch moved into Prairie View Senior Living, and on August 31, she entered hospice care.
Gretch died peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy, with family by her side. She is survived by her children Kimberly Pedersen of Tracy, Amy Dumos of Larchwood, IA, Melissa (Robert Jr.) Willhite of Tracy, David (Sunshine) Pedersen of Dover, April (Jason) Lichty of Tracy, Sara Danielson of Tracy, Dale Danielson Jr (Miranda Harrison) of rural Westbrook, Daren Danielson of rural Slayton; 29 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; sisters Clarice (Punkie) Norstegard, Eunice (Rod) Behrends, Kay Paczkowski, Debra Daniels, Karen Peterson; brother Keith (Jackie) Weinberg; as well as her in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Danielson, parents Morris Johnson and Frances Weinberg, step-father Arthur Weinberg,siblings Dorothy, Marlene “Tiny,” Theresa, Robert, Kenneth, Linda, Larry, and Janice, great-grandchild Kage Kerber, and in-laws Raymond and Rosemary Danielson.
