Lavina Mae (Holland) Huso was born on December 27, 1924, to Thomas and Agatha (Coyle) Holland. She was baptized and confirmed in Modum Lutheran church in Murray County. Lavina graduated from Tracy High School in 1943. She married Kenneth Huso on June 18, 1946, at Modum Lutheran Church. Lavina worked as a nurse at the Tracy and Marshall Hospitals for a few years and later was a full-time homemaker. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota where she was active in Ladies Aid. She was also an active 4-H leader for Nordland and Island Lake 4-H clubs. Her favorite pastimes included gardening, sewing, quilting and exhibiting her flowers at the Lyon County Fair. Lavina enjoyed feeding and watching birds. She will be remembered for always having a coffee pot available for friends and family who frequently stopped by to visit. Lavina died on Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. She is survived by her son Gary of Marshall, daughter Gail Johnson of Maple Grove, granddaughter Kristi Johnson of Watertown, SD, sisters June Pauling of Lamberton, MN, and Velma Vickerman of Fairmont, MN, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, parents, brothers Thomas and Howard Holland.
