Lawrence John Cool was born on September 9, 1936, in Marshall, to Michael and Alice (Lambert) Cool. He grew up and attended school in Marshall, graduating with the first class at Central Catholic High School in 1954. Lawrence enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served most of his time in the Hawaiian Islands. After his discharge, Lawrence returned to Marshall. He managed the Red Owl Supermarket for many years and later worked for his brother, Joe, at Mister Coolâs Clothing. Lawrence was passionate about his family and was very involved with his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a favorite Uncle. He enjoyed many activities including fishing, tennis, bird watching, working in his yard, and tending his flowers and garden. He walked his dog Shags faithfully three times a day. Lawrence was a devoted son and took care of his mother, Alice, for many years, including her later years in failing health.
Lawrence died on Wednesday, July 02, 2008, at his residence (where he was also born) in Marshall.
He is survived by his siblings; Ron Cool of Minneapolis, Jean Cool of Battle Lake, Colleen (and Ron) Macheledt of Battle Lake, Nancy (and Jim) Lewis of Puyallup, WA, Joseph (and Doris) Cool of Marshall, Bob (and Trixie) Cool of Marshall, Mary Alice (and Mike) Gade of Bluftton, SC, Betty Cook of Battle Lake, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and his little dog, Shags.
