Lawrence A. Marco was born on March 29, 1927, in Sibley Iowa to Julius and Minnie (Cramer) Marco. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Wester on August 8, 1950. The couple farmed in Adrian, MN until moving to Clarkfield in 1972, where Lawrence began his lifetime career working for Cliff Viessman, Inc. Lawrence drove semi for a short time period prior to becoming a diesel mechanic. After Dorothy retired the couple moved to Marshall where Lawrence continued working. Lawrence finally retired after 35 years in 2006 at the age of 77. In 2012 Lawrence moved to Hillstreet Place in Marshall, MN. He was elected to the facilities board where he was an active member assisting with safety drills, bingo and various activities. He later moved to the Boulder Creek Memory Care after being diagnosed with Alzheimerâs in 2014. Shortly after, he moved to Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe, MN, and finally moving to Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall, MN.
Family was very important to Lawrence. He was a devoted, loving and attentive husband, remembering his anniversary and never missing Valentineâs Day, always getting Dorothy flowers and candy. Lawrence truly enjoyed watching and laughing at his grandkids and great grandkids run, play and make mischief! They all have a little bit of his fire in them as his one grandson states. He loved the holidays, especially Christmas. A favorite family activity was playing the card game 500, and if you were dad's partner, you knew a ten bid was coming.
Lawrence enjoyed fishing and went on numerous trips to Canada. Lawrence and Dorothy loved their camper pulling it to area parks and the later years spending the camping season at Lake Shetek. He also enjoyed tinkering, working with his hands and traveling. Lawrence had an extensive toy tractor collection. He loved checking the farmerâs fields around the area. Lawrence will be remembered for his sense of humor, dry wit, the hard time he could give any waitress and the twinkle that was always in his eye.
