Lawrence (Junior) Joseph Naber Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence Naber Jr, 75, of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the remembrance center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Masks are required at all indoor events and social distancing guidelines will be followed. A livestream and recording of the service will be available at www.holy-redeemer.com Lawrence Joseph Naber Junior passed peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2020, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Larry, also known as Junior, was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. Lawrence Joseph Naber Jr. was born on November 23, 1944, in Marshall, to Lawrence Sr. and Zelie (Monnet) Naber. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from Central Catholic High School. On August 1, 1970, Larry was married to the love of his life, Julie VanLeeuwe. The couple farmed and raised their family south of Marshall. Larry was a farmer to the core. He loved being a farmer, as much as he loved his family. He was a 2nd generation farmer and the 3rd generation is operating the farm today. Harvest was his favorite season. He also ran a game farm with pheasants, turkeys, ducks and chickens. He brought birds to the Children’s Barnyard at the County Fair for many years. Larry enjoyed bonding and socializing with family and friends on his numerous hunting and fishing trips. Larry was a great storyteller and one of the funniest individuals on earth. Larry could often be found with “the boys” drinking coffee at the elevator or local establishments, and his laughter and antics about the struggle south of town were heard by many. He was proud of our country and all the men and women who put on a uniform to offer service. In the 60s, he served in the Army National Guard and in his later years he served on the Honor Guard. Larry’s heart was full with generosity. He was also very giving with his time and resources for causes for which he was personally connected. He served on the Boards for Lake Marshall Township, Holy Redeemer Church, and the Lyon County Soybean Growers Association. He was quite a man. Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julie, his children, Michele Kroger, Denise (and Chad) Erickson, Brian (and Jacque) Naber, Chad (and Allison) Naber, and Joe (and Kristi) Naber, 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister Teri Van Keulen, nieces, nephews relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. We love you. You are dearly missed. The family wishes to extend appreciation to the staff at Morningside Heights Care Center for the gentle, loving care provided to Junior. Memorials are preferred to Morningside Heights.
