Lenny Faye (Polesky) Clark was born on June 3, 1925, in Rock Lake Township to William and Beryl (Herron) Polesky. She grew up and attended school in Balaton. After High School, Lenny attended the Commerce Business College in Minneapolis. She then returned to Marshall where she worked in the office at Swift Company. On August 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Clark at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple farmed west of Marshall for eight years with John’s brothers Pat and Jim. John and Lenny then purchased a farm near Balaton. They continued farming with the Clarks and also operated their new location. The couple owned and operated the Clark’s Nursery for many years. They grew trees, provided landscaping designs, performed custom work for many local businesses, including the Schwan’s Food Company for 20 years. Lenny enjoyed farming, bookkeeping, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and watching game-shows and Court TV. John and Lenny enjoyed camping at their lake home near Balaton and traveling with friends. In 1981, they purchased a fifth wheel camper and traveled to Mesa, AZ. each winter. In 1988, they traveled to Alaska with their camper. In 1991, they bought a park model and enjoyed 17 more years in Mesa. John, along with the help of others, built ten Rolle Bolle courts and Lenny managed the tournaments. Lenny, along with others, started and was a charter member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters in Marshall. Lenny died on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She is survived by her husband, John, of Marshall, children Linda (and Dean) Louwagie of Marshall, Dan Clark of Meridian, ID, Marcia (and Bob) Clark Reed of Austin, TX, Jody (and Kraig) Mitzner of Silverdale, WA, 10 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren, sister Anita DeSmet of Marshall and sister-in-law Ve Polesky of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, brother Howard Polesky and brother-in-law Henry DeSmet. Memorials to Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall are preferred.
