Leo was born on October 27, 1927 to Harry and Lucy (Koltze) Moorse in Minneota. As a young boy, Leo would walk to country school and on occasion would ride his horse Daisy when his brother Joe would let him. He graduated in 1945 from Minneota High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Colleen (Friend). In February 1949, the couple was married and started their lives together on the same farm where he grew up as a young boy; blessed with six children. He instilled in them a hard work ethic, but lived a life full of laughter. In his early years, he would go fishing in Canada with his friends and in his later years spent many hours on the lakes in Alexandria fishing with family. He also enjoyed deer hunting; however, he never lost his faithful farmerâs spirit. He spent many hours driving the country side checking on the crops, making sure they were as straight as his were back when he planted. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember grandpa having chocolate behind his back seat. He cherished his family, often times playing jokes on them, doing his Woody the Wood Pecker impersonation, and watching Bonanza.
Leo died on September 25, 2012 at the Minneota Manor surrounded by family after a week full of laughter, rich conversations, farming inquires and a tearful goodbye.
Leoâs fun loving spirit will be greatly missed by his wife, Colleen of Minneota; children, Michael (Lin) of Minneota, Linda (Rich) Kerr of Marshall; daughter-in-law, Beth of Minneota; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Katherine Olafson, Lawrence (Lavonne), Richard, Frank (Marie) all of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Karen, Thomas, Patrick and Steven; siblings, Joe and Bernard.
