Leona Hubertine (Bulcke) Doom was born on August 7, 1922, in Marshall, to Andrew and Hubertine (Schoemarker) Doom. She grew up and attended school in Marshall. On September 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edmon Doom at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. From this union, 12 children were born. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Cottonwood until retiring in 1985 and moving to Cottonwood. Leona was an active member of St. Maryâs Catholic Church in Cottonwood. She and Ed were charter members and Leona taught religion for many years. She volunteered at Senior Dining, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Leona was a wonderful mother. She will be remembered as a provider as she always prepared in abundance, whether it was food, baking bread, or lending a hand. She was very passionate about her family, but her greatest legacy will be her unconditional love for all.
Leona died on Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Andy (and Kathy) Doom of St. Cloud, Larry (and Jackie) Doom of Marshall, Pat Doom of Nashville, TN, Ine (and Larry) Loke of Cottonwood, Tosh Doom (and fiance Melissa) of Cottonwood, Ozzie (and Meredith) Doom of Stoughton, WI, Margaret (and Jim) Rundlett-Doom of Fargo, Clarence Doom of Mankato, Cathy (and PooBear) Gagnon of Marshall, Betty (and Ron) Schoephoerster of Marshall, Marilyn (and Brad) Rosa of Cottonwood, Leon (and Deb) Doom of Cottonwood, 29 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmon, sisters Marie Doom and Lucy Buysse, grandson Braden Rosa, grandson-in-law Andrew Carlson-Doom.
